Structure of Education System in New Zealand
The Education System of New Zealand is considered among one of the best in the world. Education is compulsory for all children between the ages of 6 and 16. There are both type of education providers i.e. Public and Private. However, to provide education in any format institutions must need to be recognized by Ministry of Education. After completion of compulsory education students are encouraged to attend Territory education classes, Various scholarships, aid and grants are offered for higher education. At the same time, New Zealand also encourages International students to come and study here. The education takes following path starting from year zero.
- Ages 0 to 5 Year: Early Childhood Education
- Ages 5-10 (Years 1-6): Primary school
- Ages 11-12 (Years 7-8): Intermediate school
- Ages 13-18 (Years 9-13): Secondary school
- Ages 18 : Tertiary education
Tertiary education is delivered by universities and institutes of higher education in varied disciplines of arts, business, science, medicine, engineering, languages etc.
